Job Summary:Pro Automotive Reconditioning is seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented Detail and Recon Manager to join and lead our team. This critical role requires a hands-on professional with at least 10 years of experience in automotive detailing and basic reconditioning, including clay bar, sanding, paint touch-up, upholstery painting, wheel refinishing, and rigorous quality control. The ideal candidate will not only manage but also work alongside a team of 5-8 detailers and reconditioning specialists, fostering a productive and high-quality work environment.
Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and work alongside a team of 5-8 detailing and reconditioning technicians.
Perform and oversee detailed reconditioning work, including clay bar treatments, wet sanding, paint touch-ups, upholstery refinishing, and wheel touch-ups.
Ensure strict adherence to quality standards, performing comprehensive quality control checks before vehicle release.
Train, coach, and mentor team members, fostering skill development, teamwork, and a positive workplace culture.
Coordinate workflow effectively, managing schedules to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
Source, recruit, and retain a reliable and skilled detailing team, ideally bringing an initial group of 4-5 experienced detailers or having immediate resources to build your team.
Communicate effectively with management, team members, and clients, handling feedback professionally and constructively.
Monitor and manage inventory of detailing supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and optimal usage.
Uphold safety standards and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in automotive detailing and reconditioning.
Proven experience in clay bar treatments, wet sanding, paint touch-up, upholstery painting, and wheel refinishing.
Demonstrated ability to manage, train, and build a cohesive team of detailing professionals.
Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to lead by example.
Ability to accept direction, provide and receive feedback constructively, and continuously strive for improvement.
Familiarity with automotive reconditioning equipment, chemicals, and best practices.
Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and excellent customer service.
Preferred:
Established network or ability to quickly recruit experienced detailing professionals.
Certification in automotive detailing or reconditioning processes is a plus.
